On our small island, stories have the power to transform lives. That's the heart of the Nantucket Book Foundation - connecting readers and writers, sparking young imaginations, and celebrating the magic of books all year round.
Once upon an island, a few book lovers had a dream that stretched beyond a single summer weekend. In 2012, we launched the Nantucket Book Festival, but we quickly discovered that the magic of stories couldn't be contained in just three days.
We started small - bringing authors into local schools, putting books into eager hands, and watching the ripples of inspiration spread through our community. Those ripples became waves as more readers, writers, and dreamers joined our cause. Today, our year-round programs touch countless lives, while our flagship Festival continues to bring literary stars to our shores each June.
Every day, we witness the spark that ignites when a young reader discovers their first favorite book, or when an author's words open a door to new possibilities. That's why we bring acclaimed writers into island schools, fill library shelves with fresh stories, and ensure that 90% of our programs remain free to all.
The Nantucket Book Foundation is more than an organization - we're storytellers, dream-weavers, and community builders. Through the generosity of donors who share our passion, we're creating a legacy of literacy that will inspire generations of readers to come.
Join us as we write this continuing story! Whether through our signature Book Festival, our school visits, or our year-round events, we're building a community of readers and writers, one page at a time.
